The Top 10 Ways to Be Successful in Both Business and Life

Why do some people succeed, while others fail to reach their goals? Here's one business owner's observations about what successful people do that others don't. 
  


10. Letting your gut-instincts keep you safe.
      This is more than street-smarts. I believe that gut instinct is not just some strange source but 1- the spiritual essence of us and our connection with the source of life, but also 2- it is a lifetime of observation and learning from experience. I surely have experienced life and I have spent my life observing people. I have the ability to peer into the insides of people. My mother could do it. She would make these statements about people she barely knew and she'd hit the nail on the head about their very essence. I too have this ability. The thing is it's not always something you can verbalize but your gut tells you some things right off the bat. This is a very useful thing in the business world and I believe we all have this ability but not everyone taps into it. Being able to read people doesn't mean that you immediately run or become best friends, it means that you proceed with caution filing away the info you've got on hand right now. If there is something queer about a business proposition, keep this up front as you examine it. You know in your gut when something's right and when something's not right.
9. A lifetime of self-examination
    I cannot stress this enough. We are a work in progress. You will make mistakes, your attitude will change and you will grow. But if you don't take the time to examine yourself and your attitudes along the way, you run the risk of becoming stagnant and brittle. And brittle is a good candidate for crumbling dust. Examine your relationships with people, your business practices, not just your finances. In the end, it is your relationship with people that makes you successful in both life and business. If you find yourself having the same issues arise, it's time for some self-examination. What are you doing to contribute to this issue? What can you do to create a change?
8. Open mindedness to new ways of thinking.
    How many times have we seen people, throughout history, hold on to what they believe is the ONLY way to think, to find the world moving on without them? It was generally thought the automobile would never catch on; after all, weren't bicycles and trains more than enough? It doesn't mean you have to change your way of thinking or embrace it, just examine it, educate yourself about it and recognize that it may be here to stay.
7. Open mindedness to new technology--This relates to number 8 but in a business capacity, it is even more important. A pencil and paper may be your preferred method of working on finances, but you had better know a few things about technology or you and your pencil will be left behind. Sure you can hire others who know, but what you don't know CAN hurt you. Read! You can learn so much about anything by reading. And if you were tech savvy you would know the internet is the greatest addition to the library in regard to learning about everything!
6. Being streetwise and book-smart
    There is nothing more important than having a reasonable balance of both. Naivety can cost you and not being educated to the level you need to function well in your chosen environment can cost you as well. Don't leave your street-smarts at the door in business environments but temper it with real knowledge as well.
5. Education and constant re-education 
     I am not talking about college degrees here. Though they are a great start, you must continue to educate yourself. Take part in seminars, read everything, surf the net. Even when you think you've got it, press on.
4. A willingness to give back
    First, take care of yourself. Put yourself in a position to give back. I've had the privilege to hear so many people speak about their ideas for new businesses. The first thing they say is that they want to help people and that they want to give away what they've got. Andrew Morrison, from Small Business Camp (http://www.smallbusinesscamp.com) and believer that questions are more powerful than answers (see his book "21 Questions that Will Build Your Business in 90 Days") always asks the question, "Where's the money?" because if you can't support yourself, if you have to close your doors because you are bankrupt, how can you realistically help others? Sure there are exceptions to this, but most people have been able to give back and help others because they helped themselves. When you've helped yourself, GIVE BACK! I've seen many people become selfish and bitter in this regard. "I had to do it for myself! Nobody helped me!" They begin to dole out help in a miserly manner, looking for something in return including gratitude. They also give with suspicion. They suspect that those they give to will use it to steal something from them. If you watch closely, here is where they will begin their descent. If you feel like you got where you are on your own, look carefully I say, because you did NOT get to where you are without help. And much of it was given unselfishly and without restraint. Give generously and from the heart and don't look back! (CAUTION: DON'T ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE DRAINED DRY BY THOSE WHO LIKE TO PLAY UPON THIS NOTION EITHER)
3. Love and caring for yourself 
     Here is a simple analogy. When you board a plane you are treated to a demonstration of what to do in case the oxygen masks drop from above. The first instruction is to put your mask on first. This is especially important because if you don't take care of your need first, you will not be able to help others and that includes your children, your spouse or anyone else. How does this relate to business? Create the situation that best helps you first. Put yourself in a position of power or at least close to the ear of power. Do a great job, first for you. Excel for you. Then assist others, speak up for others, do for others.
2. How you treat people
    I believe in this. I don't think you really have to right to abuse people. Some people think that certain groups of people are okay to abuse. I am not speaking from a standpoint of race here either. These people think that it's okay to abuse "the help" i.e. countless waiters and waitresses, assistants, maids, children. They also think it's okay to abuse what they deem "fat people" or people they believe are "ugly". They believe it's okay to treat "telemarketers" with disrespect when these are just people doing a job (I'm not talking about rude or abusive telemarketers either!). I believe that the golden rule is truth that still stands, because truth will always stand. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, or your daughter or son, or spouse, etc. I urge you to read "How to Win Friends and Influence People", by Dale Carnegie, over and over again. Study the lives of the charismatic. Success was written in their everyday dealings with people. Not on a superficial level but on a deeper connecting level.
1. Commitment to the journey 
      Here is what I believe is the number one key to success for an entrepreneur. Are you committed? What I am trying to say is that in all of my observations, and from my own experience, I find that the journey is always the same. It's a long road of self examination and improvement, skill examination and education. It's making judgment calls about people, things and situations. You continually correct the "course" until you are headed in the right direction. To trust your gut, to keep the faith, to make it through tough times, takes practice. The question is can you stick it out? Do you quit because the money is low? Do you quit because you can't find the right people? When do you say it's over?
Commitment to the journey. It is the key to success. Because you will always see things that make you want to run. But you have to put your faith on the table. You really have to stand against all odds. It takes courage. And when you do this, you will succeed. As Goethe put it:
Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness concerning all acts of initiative (and creation). There is one elemental truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans--- that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves all. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issue from the decision, Raising in one's favor all manner of incidents and meetings and material assistance which no one could have dreamed would come his or her way.
Whatever you can do or dream, you can begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

The standard path of the mythological adventure of the hero is a magnification of the formula represented
in the rites of passage: separation--initiation--return: which might be named the nuclear unit of the
monomyth.
Stages of the hero’s journey:
      1. Birth: Fabulous circumstances surrounding conception, birth, and childhood establish the hero’s
pedigree, and often constitute their own monomyth cycle.
       2. Call to Adventure: The hero is called to adventure by some external event or messenger. The Hero
may accept the call willingly or reluctantly.
      3. Helpers/Amulet: During the early stages of the journey, the hero will often receive aid from a
protective figure. This supernatural helper can take a wide variety of forms, such as a wizard, and
old man, a dwarf, a crone, or a fairy godmother. The helper commonly gives the hero a protective
amulet or weapon for the journey.
      4. Crossing the Threshold: Upon reaching the threshold of adventure, the hero must undergo some
sort of ordeal in order to pass from the everyday world into the world of adventure. This trial may
be as painless as entering a dark cave or as violent as being swallowed up by a whale. The
important feature is the contrast between the familiar world of light and the dark, unknown world
of adventure.
      5. Tests: The hero travels through the dream-like world of adventure where he must undergo a series
of tests. These trials are often violent encounters with monsters, sorcerers, warriors, or forces of
nature. Each successful test further proves the hero's ability and advances the journey toward its
climax.
     6. Helpers: The hero is often accompanied on the journey by a helper who assists in the series of
tests and generally serves as a loyal companion. Alternately, the hero may encounter a
supernatural helper in the world of adventure who fulfills this function.
     7. Climax/The Final Battle: This is the critical moment in the hero's journey in which there is often a
final battle with a monster, wizard, or warrior which facilitates the particular resolution of the
adventure.
     8. Flight: After accomplishing the mission, the hero must return to the threshold of adventure and
prepare for a return to the everyday world. If the hero has angered the opposing forces by stealing
the elixir or killing a powerful monster, the return may take the form of a hasty flight. If the hero
has been given the elixir freely, the flight may be a benign stage of the journey.
    9. Return: The hero again crosses the threshold of adventure and returns to the everyday world of
daylight. The return usually takes the form of an awakening, rebirth, resurrection, or a simple
emergence from a cave or forest. Sometimes the hero is pulled out of the adventure world by a
force from the daylight world.
   10. Elixer: The object, knowledge, or blessing that the hero acquired during the adventure is now put
to use in the everyday world. Often it has a restorative or healing function, but it also serves to
define the hero's role in the society.
   11. Home: The hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on
his fellow man.

Six way to became Rich

We tend to assume that if we work hard and save money then one day we will end up wealthy. This is wishful thinking. We are more likely to end up with some modest but useful savings. If you want to accumulate serious wealth then there a number of approaches you can use and some are much more effective than others. The best ways are as follows:
 
              1.Start your own business and eventually sell it.This is the most effective and proven way to become rich. If you can find a new approach to a customer need and build a profitable business that addresses that need then you have created real value. It could be a cleaning business, a hairdresser’s, a consultancy or an investment bank. It will probably take years of very hard work to build up the enterprise. Most new businesses fail so the risks are high. You need all the skills, dynamism, perseverance and diligence of an entrepreneur. But if you can pull it off the potential rewards are huge. This is how many of the seriously wealthy people did it.

           2. Join a start-up and get stock. If you can accumulate equity positions in one or more start-up companies then there is an opportunity for a serious capital gain if the company thrives and either floats or is sold to a larger enterprise. Only a small minority of start-ups succeed in realising large capital gains so the odds are not good. However, you can use your judgement to see which business idea and which management team are likely to succeed. Early employees in Apple, Google and Microsoft became millionaires on this basis.

               3. Exploit your skill as a self-employed expert. If you can develop a marketable skill and retain your independence then you can reap considerable rewards. This is how sports stars, authors and entertainers become rich. In general the self-employed expert has greater earning opportunities than one who works for a company. There are risks and you have to have something special. Your success is in your own hands so this is a popular route for people who have developed a skill and want to strike out on their own.

              4. Develop property. Buying, developing and selling property is a well-established way to build a significant capital position. One of the key elements is that by borrowing money you can gain leverage on your investment. Say you borrow $200,000 and put in $50,000 of your own to buy a property for $250,000. Then you develop the property and sell it for $400,000. The property has increased in value by 60% but your $50,000 has now grown fourfold to $200,000. You have to select the right properties in the right areas and develop them wisely. You are at risk from booms and busts in the property market. However, in the long term this remains a proven way to accumulate wealth. 


             5.Build a portfolio of stocks and shares. If you can make steady investments in stocks over a long period, choose wisely and reinvest the dividends then you can build a large store of wealth. Of course stocks can go down as well as up and many small investors lose heart when their portfolio plunges. But over the long-term equities are as good an investment as property and much more liquid. Stock market crashes represent great buying opportunities for those with cash and strong nerves.

             6. Inherit wealth. It helps if you were born to successful or wealthy parents but failing that, you could marry fortuitously!

 Here’s a few more ideas that are not necessarily bad but are somewhat riskier if your goal is wealth:
 
           1. Work in a steady job, cut back expenditures and save in the bank. This is prudent practice and reduces your financial risk but is not an effective method of becoming rich. You should keep your expense within your income but if you want to make serious money then you must significantly boost your income or find ways to multiply your capital. Revisit some of the ideas above.

           2. Be an inventor. Invent a something that everyone needs and patent your invention. Then licence out your invention and watch the royalties roll in. This is another very difficult route to wealth. Some inventors do get rich this way but securing the patent is arduous and signing a good licensing deal is not easy. However more big companies are looking outside for innovations they can market so it is not impossible.

           3. Gamble.We hear about lottery winners and poker stars so this approach can sometimes work but the numbers are so unfavourable that it represents a lousy plan for becoming rich. You are strongly advised to avoid this method and use one of the first six above.

 There are more important things in life than accumulating wealth. Who wants to end up rich, unloved, lonely and in poor health? However, if you can enjoy a balanced life and at the same time become rich, why not do so? Plan your route and relish the journey!

Judith Wambura alizaliwa mkoani Shinyanga mnamo tarehe 15 Juni,1979 kwa Martha na Lameck Isambua Mbibo ambao ndio wazazi wake. Alianza kuimba akiwa na umri wa miaka saba. Alianzia kuimba kanisani kama ilivyo kwa wasanii wengi. Baada ya kumaliza shule, Lady Jaydee aliwahi kufanya kazi Clouds FM kabla ya kuamua kujiingiza kwenye masuala ya muziki hapo mnamo miaka ya 2000

Alianza kujibebea heshima katika medani ya muziki kunako mwaka wa 2000 baada ya kutoa albamu yake ya kwanza iliyokwenda kwa jina la "Machozi" na kutoa single kadhaa kutoka katika albamu hiyo na kumfanya kuwa mwanamama wa kwanza katika bongo flava kwa kutumia gharama kubwa ya ujenzi wa albamu katika historia ya muziki wa kizazi kipya.
Lady Jay Dee ni msanii mwenye kumiliki studio yake mwenyewe ya kurekodia. Studio inakwenda kwa jina la Jag Records.
Jay Dee, alishawahi kuchaguliwa kuwa Mwanamuziki Bora wa Kike wa Tanzania kwa muziki wa R&B mnamo 2002, na kutumbuiza katika Kora All Africa Designers Competition, na kutuzwa "Albamu Bora ya R&B" katika Tuzo za Muziki Tanzania kunako tar. 6 Agosti 2004. Kunako mwezi wa Julai 2005, ameshinda tuzo ya "video bora ya msanii wa kike kwa Afrika Kusini".
